Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have optioned RHP Brian Slocum and LHP Tony Sipp to the Buffalo Bisons. The Herd opens up their 12-game exhibition schedule tomorrow at Winter Haven, FL against the Round Rock Express (Houston Astros).

Slocum, 26, pitched just five games with the Bisons last year before suffering a right elbow strain that kept him off the mound after May 4. In those five starts, he went 2-2 with a 4.15ERA. Slocum had a breakout season with the Herd in 2006, going 6-3 with a 3.35ERA and one save in 27 games. He finished 3rd on the team in strikeouts (91) and fourth in average against (.227).

Slocum posted a 5.40ERA in three spring games with Cleveland (3.1IP, 2H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 2K).

Sipp, 24, did not pitch last year after suffering a strained ligament in his left elbow in 2007 spring training. He underwent arthroscopic surgery on July 10, 2007 and is schedule to miss at least the first three months of the 2008 season. He was 4-2 with a 3.13ERA and three saves in 29 games with Double-A Akron in 2006.

The Bisons Home Opener is just 29 days away as they will host the Toledo Mud Hens on Friday, April 11 (6:05 p.m.) for a fridaynightbash!®. Season Ticket and ticket packages are now available by calling THE-HERD (716-843-4373). Individual game tickets will go on sale at the team's annual Family Day Open House at Dunn Tire Park, Saturday, March 15 (12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.).
