Americans auction off NASCAR jerseys

KENNEWICK, WA - Fans are encouraged to join the Americans celebrate the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) and Toyota at the Toyota Center on Friday, March 14 at 7:05 PM. The first 2,500 fans through the gate will receive rally towels, courtesy of U.S. Cellular. Tickets are available through all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Toyota Center box office, all Fred Meyer outlets or online at ticketmaster.com.

As part of the celebration, the Americans will be wearing special NASCAR-inspired jerseys, in honor of Toyota's introduction into the nation's fastest sport. The jerseys, which the Americans debuted in the pre-game warm-ups of last Sunday's game against Portland, will be worn for the entire game this Friday against the Kelowna Rockets.

The jerseys will be available for auction starting at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12 and conclude on Wednesday, March 19 at 10:00 p.m. It will be a live-bid format, with all bids occurring online, through the Americans' website, www.amshockey.com.

Fans can find the auction on the site by clicking on the team store tab of the upper menu bar of the website and then on Auctions. There, they can bid on their choice of the 24 current Americans' jerseys. Starting bid is $200, with a buy it now price of $500. All proceeds of the jersey auction will go towards the Americans' Continuing Education Fund, the club's second largest expense as a franchise. This fund, which is set-up through the League, grants a year-long scholarship for every player to the school of their choice for every year they play in the League.
