The Kamloops Blazers split their home-and-home weekend with the Prince George Cougars - with the road team winning each time out. The split improved the Blazers' record to 27-37-2-2 with one week left in the WHL regular season. Here's a recap of the weekend's action:

COUGARS-6, BLAZERS-3: Dana Tyrell scored once and added three assists as the Cougars rallied from 1-0 and 3-2 down to beat the Blazers 6-3 on Friday night at ISC. Jimmy Bubnick put the Blazers up 1-0 early in the second before Jordie Deagle and Tyrell scored 45 seconds apart for a 2-1 Cougar lead after 40 minutes. Kenton Dulle counted twice in 12 seconds early in the third to put the Blazers back in front by a goal before Kalvin Sagert and Parker Stanfield picked up powerplay goals 2-and-a-half minutes apart to put the Cougars ahead to stay. The Cougars would add a pair of empty netters to put it away. Final shots were 34-30 Blazers with Real Cyr getting the win and Justin Leclerc taking the loss. The Blazers were 1-for-4 on the PP and 6-for-8 on the PK.

BLAZERS-1, COUGARS-0: Juuso Puustinen scored the only goal of the game - on a first-period powerplay - and James Priestner made 35 saves for his second shutout of the season as the Blazers got back in the win column with a 1-0 win in Prince George on Saturday night. Final shots were 35-27 Cougars with the Blazers 1-for-5 on the PP and 6-for-6 on the PK. The Blazers host Spokane on Wednesday.

PLAYOFFS START NEXT FRIDAY

The Blazers will open the 2008 WHL Playoffs on the road on March 21st and 22nd in either Spokane, Vancouver, or Tri-Cities. Games 3 and 4 of the first-round series are tentatively set for Tuesday, March 25th and Wednesday, March 26th at Interior Savings Centre. Game times would be 7:00.
