
Chiefs Clinch Spot in Post Season

The Spokane Chiefs, with the best record in the WHL, have clinched a spot in the post season. A January 26th win over Prince Albert, coupled with a Prince George loss, guaranteed the Chiefs a place in the WHL playoffs.
Spokane followed that win with a 5-2 victory in Chilliwack on Sunday night, their fourth in a row and giving themselves a 36-10-1-3 mark through 50 games, a record that keeps the Chiefs alive in their in their chase for the best regular season in franchise history. Four times prior the organization has won more than 30 times in their first 50, the last time being 1999-00 when they had a franchise best 33 wins through 50 games.
The Chiefs have been atop the Western Conference for a majority of the year thanks to a consistency that has seen them put together five streaks of four or more wins, including a nine game and seven game streaks. Spokane had gone four seasons without winning four in row. Thanks to one overtime loss and three in shootouts, Spokane has registered a point in 40 of 50 games and has lost back-to-back games in regulation just once this season.
THREE GAMES THIS WEEK WEEKEND HOME-AND-HOME WITH KOOTENAY
Spokane will play three times this week, twice on the road and once at home. Tuesday night, the Chiefs will travel to Kamloops for the first time this season. The Blazers and Chiefs have split the previous two meetings in the Spokane Arena.
The weekend will feature a home and home series with the Kootenay Ice beginning on Friday in Cranbrook. Mike Boyle will go on the air at 5:30 with Comcast Hockey Tonight on KJRB 790 the Fan, gametime is scheduled for 6:00.
Saturday night, the Chiefs will pay homage to old-time hockey in the Spokane Arena when they host the Ice for the second time this season. The Chiefs will be wearing special "Old-Time Hockey Jerseys" presented by Miller Brewing and Cat Country 94. Twenty fans, 10 selected at the game and 10 selected form entries at Miller displays at participating stores, will walk away with the game worn jerseys.

CHIEFS AND WASHINGTON'S LOTTERY CONTINUE BOOK DRIVE
Continuing with this weekend's home game, Chiefs fans are encouraged to bring a new children's book to the game to help support Page Ahead, a children's literacy program.
For each new children's book, fans will receive a $1 Washington's Lottery Scratch ticket. The book drive will run through Washington's Lottery night on Friday, February 8th when the Chiefs host the Seattle Thunderbirds.
Books will be collected at the front gates.
