The Week in Review
January 25 /08- Regina Pats -3 @ Medicine Hat Tigers -2 OT
The Regina Pats entered Friday's contest against the Medicine Hat Tigers on a six game winning streak looking to make it seven at the Medicine Hat Arena ... The Pats opened the scoring just 23 seconds into the contest when Michael MacAngus notched his 14th goal of the season, to put the Pats up 1-0 early ... The Pats would add to their lead before the 1st was out as Victor Bartley scored his 1st goal as a Pat on the powerplay to make the score 2-0 after one period of play ... The Tigers would start chipping away on the Pats lead in the 2nd when Tyler Ennis would score his 27th goal of the season on the powerplay to put the Tigers down one after two ... In the 3rd the Tigers would take no time evening the score as Brennan Bosch scored the equalizer just 1:18 into the frame ... After back and forth action in the 3rd frame the Pats and Tigers would settle nothing and send the game to overtime ... In the extra frame Scott Doucet took no time to end the game as he scored his 3rd goal as a member of the Pats just 39 seconds into overtime, moving he Pats winning streak to 7 games ... Linden Rowat picked up the victory in net for the Pats making 20 saves, while Ryan Holfeld was given the loss for the Tigers ....
January 26/08- Regina Pats - 2 @ Swift Current Broncos-3 SO
The Regina Pats put their 7 game winning streak on the line Saturday night in Swift Current, as the Broncos have been the only team that has been able to record a victory against the Pats' in the New Year ... The Broncos drew first blood when Matt Tassone scored his 13th goal of the season with 4 minutes remaining in the 1st period ... The score would stay that way until Geordie Wudrick scored midway through the 2nd frame to put the Broncos up by two after two ... In the 3rd the Pats' turned up the tempo and pressed for a goal and they would find one the stick of Michael MacAngus ... MacAngus was hauled down and given a penalty shot which he took full advantage of beating Broncos netminder Travis Yonkman ... The Pats' would then find the equalizer when J.D Watt scored his 10th of the season, from Josh Elder to tie the game at two after regulation ... After overtime settled nothing the two teams headed for the shootout ... In the shootout Rudolf Cerveny was the only Pats' player to beat Yonkman, while Dale Weise and Matt Tassone both beat Pats' goalie Linden Rowat giving the Broncos the 3-2 victory ... The loss snapped the Pats' seven game winning streak, but with the shootout loss the Pats continue to collect points as they have not dropped a game in regulation since December 30th when the lost 2-1 to the Saskatoon Blades ...
January 27/08- Regina Pats - 3 Vs. Saskatoon Blades-2 OT
The Regina Pats played their first game at the Brandt Centre in two weeks as the Saskatoon Blades visited the hottest team in the WHL ... The Pats opened the scoring midway through the 1st period when Ryan DePape notched his 10th of the season on the powerplay ... The Blades would respond just 3 minutes later when John Flatters would blow one by Jeff Bosch to knot things at one ... Just 17 seconds later the Pats would get a bounce in their favor as Garrett Mitchell chipped one over the top of Braden Holtby ... The Pats would add another goal before the 1st was over as Kirt Hill scored on a pretty feed from DePape to make the score 3-1 after one ... In the 2nd the two teams would exchange goals as Jordan Eberle and Stefan Elliot would score for their respected teams making the score 4-2 Pats through 40 minutes .... In the 3rd the Blades would form a comeback as they would score two goals just a minute apart to send the game to overtime ... The Pats would not let the two points slip away as for the second time this weekend Scott Doucet was the overtime hero scoring his 14th of the season, just under two minutes into the extra frame ...
New Look Pats Off To Fantastic Start...
Since January 1st the Regina Pats have a record of 9-0-2-1 which puts them only 3 points out of 1st place in the Eastern Conference ... Since the trades that saw the Pats pick up 3 new forwards and 3 new defencemen the Pats have not been defeated in regulation and have put together 12 games in a row where they have recorded at least a point ... J.D Watt has been the best of the newly acquired players scoring 3 goals and adding 5 assists for 8 points in 10 games with the Pats ...
Doucet The Hero of the Weekend ...
Pats' 19 year old forward Scott Doucet has never scored an overtime goal in the WHL, that was until this past weekend where he scored the overtime winner's in both Medicine Hat and then at home Sunday night against the Blades ... Doucet who was acquired on January 1st from Red Deer has scored 4 goals and added 2 assists since being acquired ...

Pats' Prospect Making Waves...
Pats' prospect Jordan Weal continues to impress in the British Columbia Major Midget Hockey League as he leads the league with 29 goals and 48 assists for 77 points in just 30 games ... The 15 year old sniper was drafted in last season's WHL Bantam Draft where the Pats' selected him in the 4th round, 79th overall ...
6th Annual Regina Pats Sportsman's Dinner
The 6th annual Regina Pats Sportsman's Dinner is scheduled for this Thursday, February 7th. The event will take place at IPSCO place, and hosts an impressive line of delegates. The guest speakers for the event will be former NHL players Stu Grimson and Theo Fleury. The Master of Ceremonies for the dinner will be Pete Loubardias from Sportsnet, while comedian Johnny "Bag Pipes" Johnson will provide the entertainment for the evening.
