Charlotte Knights News Release
FORT MILL, S.C. - April 24, 2007 - In this young 2007 baseball season, it's a safe bet that if the Knights go into extra innings, they're going to win. Charlotte beat Toledo 6-4 after Wiki Gonzalez (1) hit a two-run HR in the bottom of the 10th inning. The Knights are now 5-1 in extra inning games this season.
Winning the game and series with the Mud Hens was made even sweeter given the fact the Knights were down 4-0 in the 1st inning after Toledo hit back-to-back-to-back home runs off of Knights starter Gavin Floyd (1-1, 3.24). Floyd recovered after the rough start to strike out 8 Mud Hens and gave up only 3 more hits in seven innings of work. Josh Fields (3) closed the gap in half with a two-run shot in the bottom of the 1st to make it 4-2. Preston Larrison (0-1, 2.57) took the loss for the Mud Hens.
The Knights begin a brief two-game series on Thursday with the rival Durham Bulls. RHP Vladimir Nunez (1-1, 2.87) gets the start for the Knights. LHP J.P. Howell (0-3, 5.66) will start for the Bulls. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For ticket or event information, please contact the Knights front office at (704) 357-8071 or (803) 548-8050 or visit our website at www.charlotteknights.com for more information.
