EIGHT MAKE DEBUTS: The Syracuse Crunch had multiple players make their professional and Crunch debuts during their opening weekend.
Right wing Adam Pineault made his professional debut on Friday, October 6 against Toronto, while defenseman Kyle Wharton, center Philippe Dupuis and right wing Olivier Labelle all made their professional debuts on Saturday, October 7 against Binghamton. Goaltender Tomas Popperle, defensemen Tomas Kloucek and Filip Novak and center Eric Boguniecki made their Crunch debuts Friday night, while goaltender Ty Conklin made his Syracuse debut Saturday.
AMERICAN IDOL FINALIST KEVIN COVAIS TO SING ANTHEM AT CRUNCH HOME OPENER ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13, COMPLIMENTS OF COCA-COLA: American Idol finalist Kevin Covais will be on hand at the Crunch's home opener on Friday, October 13 to sing the National Anthem.
Fans can register at Coca-cola displays at area Express Mart locations to win an invitation to a pre-game party with Kevin Covais. In addition, Covais will be available during the first intermission to sign autographs in Memorial Hall.
Covais was born and raised in Levittown, New York on Long Island. He started singing at the age of 10 and has taken voice lessons for four years. He is a member of his high school drama club and has won competitions such as Eisenhower Park's Reach in 2003.
Covais auditioned for American Idol in Boston, Massachusetts. On March 9, 2006, he made it into the top 12 of American Idol.
Express Mart Named Title Sponsor of Crunch's Opening Night: Express Mart has been named the title sponsor of Express Mart Opening Night.
Syracuse opens the home portion of their 13th American Hockey League season on Friday, October 13 against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a rally towel, compliments of Express Mart.
Coupons for discounted tickets to Express Mart Opening Night are now available at area Express Mart locations.
THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS:
WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON (PITTSBURGH PENGUINS): The Crunch host Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for their home opener on Friday, October 13 for the first of eight regular season meetings. Last season Syracuse went 4-4-0 against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Lifetime, the Crunch are 33-22-7 against the Penguins.
HERSHEY (WASHINGTON CAPITALS): The Crunch host Hershey on Saturday, October 14 for the first of two regular season meetings. Last season Syracuse went 2-0-0 against Hershey. Lifetime, the Crunch are 26-32-12 against the Bears.

Crunch to Sign Autographs at Ashley Furniture: The Syracuse Crunch announced today that Crunch right wings Adam Pineault and Brandon Sugden will be at Ashley Furniture on Wednesday, October 11.
Pineault and Sugden will be at Ashley Furniture, located in the Northern Lights Mall, to sign autographs from 5-6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11.
CRUNCHABLES: Right wing Joe Motzko moved into an eighth place tie (Tim Jackman) on the teams' games played list this past weekend with 214 games... With two penalty minutes on Friday night, right wing Brandon Sugden is now 78 penalty minutes shy of tying Jeremy Reich for first on the Crunch's all-time penalty minutes list... Despite not converting on nine power play chances, Syracuse's penalty kill unit went 14-for-17 over the weekend.
