South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays announced today a major marketing and sales partnership with the Coastal Carolina division of the Boy Scouts to run for the duration of the 2006-2007 season.
The partnership was designed to compliment the Boy Scouts Fall Popcorn Sales Campaign which will run from now until the end of November. Incentives to push sales will include both Stingrays tickets and experiences. Each scout that sells $150 in popcorn will receive a free ticket to the Stingrays home game on February 18, 2007.
Other incentives include participation in an on-ice contest or activity, dinner with the President and head coaches, and a chance to be a guest radio commentator with broadcaster Mike Kelly.
"We are very excited for this new partnership between the Boy Scouts and Stingrays," commented Pat Craven, Scout Director of the Coastal Carolina region. "Scout age boys are into fast paced and action-filled video games, and Stingrays Hockey is all of that, but live. They will get to go and spend the day hanging out with their friends and having fun at the same time. Sounds like a typical scouting event to me."
"Our scouts are working hard to sell a half million dollars worth of popcorn in the next couple of months to support the local scouting program," Craven continued. "The Stingrays recognize their effort and are helping to reward them with a day of fun and great hockey. We can't say thank you enough for their generosity. All the leaders and boys that I've talked to are really excited about the entire incentive program."
Scouts have always been a big part of Stingrays hockey. This season, the Stingrays expect around 2,000 scouts to come out for a hockey game.
"The Stingrays are truly excited to be a part of this partnership with the Boy Scouts," said Chris Lynch, Director of Scout Sales. "We look forward to providing some exciting prizes and incentives for their strong efforts in selling."
Scouts will be recognized for all their hard work on Sunday, February 18 as the Stingrays are hosting Scout Day at the North Charleston Coliseum.
The theme of the game will completely revolve around the scouts. Activities such as a Scout Pep Rally, rock climbing wall, intermission games and other events will recognize the scout program in the Low Country.
"The Stingrays will host one of the most exciting and unique Scout Days we've ever seen at the Coliseum," noted Lynch. "We are encouraging all friends and families of the scouts to come out and participate in the game and to watch the Stingrays battle the Florida Everblades.
Any scout that receives their complimentary ticket for the popcorn sales will have the ability to bring their friends and family out at a discounted rate of $9 for Upper Level tickets and $11.50 for Lower Level tickets.
In addition, the Stingrays will once again be handing out scout patches, but this time with a twist. The 2006-2007 Scout Patch will be a designed in the form of a Stingrays jersey with half being given out on Opening Night and the other half being given out on Scout Day.
