Augusta Lynx News Release

After two seasons with the Augusta Lynx as the team's equipment manager, Gord "Spud" Hamilton has accepted the same position with the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage. The club has named John Sellars as his successor.

Hamilton has spent his entire career in hockey, working his way through stops in the Ontario Hockey League, Western Professional Hockey League, and United Hockey League before coming to Augusta in 2004. While in Elmira, Hamilton worked alongside current Lynx director of broadcasting and public relations Tom Callahan for three seasons as well.

"We're always proud as an organization when someone is able to move up," said Lynx head coach and director of hockey operations Bob Ferguson. "We hate to lose Spud but at the same time wish him nothing but success in the AHL."

Sellars brings with him several years of experience in pro hockey despite being just 20 years old. A native of Summerville, SC, Sellars was a member of the South Carolina Stingrays staff for six seasons, spending four as a stick boy and working his way up to Assistant Equipment Manager. He was also a part of the Stingrays' Kelly Cup Championship team in 2001. Last season Sellars served as head equipment manager for the UHL's Roanoke Valley Vipers.

The Lynx will hit the ice on opening weekend Friday, October 20 against the Columbia Inferno and Saturday, October 21 versus the Gwinnett Gladiators! Friday night will feature magnetic schedule giveaway plus music by the Pat Blanchard Band. Saturday Quiet Storm will perform live, with fireworks on both nights plus a whole lot more! Both games will start at 7:35 pm, with tickets on sale now through the Lynx office at (706) 724-4423, or visiting any TicketMaster location and www.TicketMaster.com.
