Clippard named EL Pitcher of the Week

(Trenton, NJ) -The Eastern League announced earlier today that Thunder RHP Tyler Clippard was named the Eastern League "Pitcher of the Week" for the week ending June 25th. It is the third time that a member of the Thunder has been honored by the Eastern League this season.

The 21-year old Clippard made a pair of starts for the Thunder last week and was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA. Clippard, a native of Trinity, Florida, earned a win in his first start of the week, striking out six batters and walking two while giving up just three hits in seven shutout innings of work against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at Waterfront Park last Monday. In his second appearance of the week the 6'4", 170 lb. hurler, who was ranked by Baseball America as the 10th best prospect in the Yankees organization entering the season, limited Connecticut to four hits and struck out six batters in 4.1 innings of work at Waterfront Park on Sunday. Tyler was selected by the New York Yankees in the ninth round of the June 2003 draft out of J.W. Mitchell High School in Florida.
