June 26, 2006 - Eastern League (EL1)
Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

Both Harrisburg Senators starting pitchers tossed complete-game shutouts, as they swept a doubleheader from the Binghamton Mets, winning Game One 4-0 and a rain-shortened Game Two 3-0 in five innings at Commerce Bank Park Monday. The B-Mets lost two of three in the series and finish their seven-game road trip with a 3-4 mark.

In the first game, Harrisburg (42-33) got to B-Mets starter Mike Pelfrey for three runs in the third. Melvin Dorta started the rally with a one-out double before Tim Raines Jr. hit a two-base hit of his own, scoring Dorta. After Kory Casto walked and Alex Escobar was hit by a pitch, Prentice Redman drove in Raines and Casto with a base hit to left for a 3-0 Senators lead. Dan Dement homered off Pelfrey (3-2) in the fourth, accounting for the game's final tally.

Meanwhile, Binghamton (33-43) couldn't solve Harrisburg righthander Kip Bouknight, (4-5), who scattered four hits and struck out eight.

In Game Two, Harrisburg got on the board with two out in the first when Casto reached Miguel Pinango (1-6) for a homer to right. Harrisburg got two more on five hits in the fifth with singles by Raines and Casto driving in runs in support of Oscar Alvarez (4-4). The lefty allowed three hits over five innings before the rains came.

Tuesday, the B-Mets return home for seven games, opening a three-game series with the Reading Phillies. Miguel Perez (2-4, 4.31) will start for Binghamton against Zach Segovia (3-4, 4.01) of Reading. Game time is 7:00 from NYSEG Stadium with the Horizons Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show kicking off the broadcast at 6:50 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
