Sea Dogs top Fisher Cats 14-7 to earn series split

(Manchester)- Portland (40-25) broke a 3-3 tie with a run in the 6th and 6 runs in the 7th inning en route to an 14-7 win on Sunday over New Hampshire (31-26) before a sell-out crowd of 6,618 at MerchantsAuto.com Stadium in Manchester. Randy Beam (2-1) picked up the win in relief for Portland, Kurt Isenberg (2-8) suffered the loss. Portland's first three batters scored. CF Tyler Minges (5-for-6, 2 doubles) led off the game with a double, RF Brandon Moss homered and DH Jeremy West doubled and scored on a ground out by 1B Luis Jimenez. New Hampshire battled back to tie the game at 3-3. 3B Brad Hassey had an RBI single in the second inning to make it 3-1. In the fourth inning, LF Adam Lind (2-for-4) doubled and scored on the first of two home runs by RF Ron Davenport (3-for-4). The Sea Dogs went ahead for good in the sixth inning. LF Chris Durbin beat out an infield single and C Dusty Brown (2-for-4) doubled him home. Portland added ten more runs in the final three innings, SS Zach Borowiak singled in the seventh, homered in the eighth and singled in two more runs in the 9th. Adam Lind drove in two runs with his 12th home run in the bottom of the seventh, and Davenport followed with his second of the game to cut the lead to 10-6. 2B Carlo Cota hit his first homer of the season in the bottom of the ninth for the Fisher Cats. New Hampshire, off the four-game split with the first place Sea Dogs, head on the road to Trenton for four games. Monday night at 7:05pm it will be RHP Kyle Yates (3-5, 4.42) for the Fisher Cats against Trenton RHP Tyler Clippard (2-9, 5.69). The game can be heard through www.nhfishercats.com.
