
Stars to honor state champs Tuesday

Des Moines' two state championship basketball teams, as well as all of the state's 2006 high school wrestling champions will be honored during a special ceremony during the 2nd intermission of Tuesday night's Iowa Stars game at Wells Fargo Arena. Members of the 2006 Des Moines Roosevelt girls' basketball and the 2006 Des Moines Hoover boys' basketball championship teams will be recognized during the game's second break.
In addition, Global Spectrum's Matt Homan, general manager of the Iowa Events Center and Iowa Stars President John Pettit will join Polk County Supervisor Angela Connolly, Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union associate director Mike Dick and Iowa High School Athletic Association director Rick Wulkow to unveil banners honoring the first class of state champion to be crowned at Wells Fargo Arena in boys' and girls' basketball and wrestling. The banners will hang from the arena's rafters as a permanent tribute to victors of each sport's state tournaments.
