WEEK IN REVIEW

Wednesday, April 5: Norfolk 3, Phantoms 1 - The Phantoms held a 1-0 lead for more than half the game, but the Norfolk Admirals eventually turned up the heat and took a 3-1 win at Norfolk Scope on Wednesday night. Matt Ellison opened the scoring just 2:16 into the game, only to see the advantage erased by goals from Jordan Hendry, Nathan Barrett and Pavel Vorobiev. The Phantoms did have a third-period goal by Triston Grant disallowed when it was ruled that Grant played the puck with a high stick. Martin Houle finished the night with 30 saves on 33 Norfolk chances, while Munro took the win with 23 stops on 24 Philadelphia shots.

Friday, April 7: Phantoms 5, Hershey 4, OT - On the night of his induction into the Phantoms Hall of Fame, Neil Little's former teammates made him proud with a 5-4 overtime win over the Hershey Bears. David Printz scored the game winner on a breakaway in the first minute of overtime. Jim Campbell had two goals, while Stefan Ruzicka grabbed the other. Martin Houle snagged the win with 27 saves on 31 Hershey bids, while Campbell earned the first star and Printz the second.

Saturday, April 8: Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 4, Phantoms 2 - Kurtis McLean broke a 2-2 deadlock just under six minutes into the third period, lifting the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 4-2 win over the Phantoms on Saturday night. The Phantoms scored the game's first goal for the 10th consecutive contest when Pat Kavanagh started things off at the 6:14 mark of the first period. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton scored twice during a five-minute power play later in the frame to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission. Tony Voce tied the game at 10:03 of the second period, producing the 2-2 tie that McLean snapped at the 5:28 mark of the third. The loss spoiled the professional debut of Phantoms goaltender Scott Munroe, who came to the club following his senior season at the University of Alabama at Huntsville. Munroe stopped 31 of 34 shots on the night.

Sunday, April 9: Phantoms 6, Norfolk 5 - In a game that had everything, from a hat trick to a goalie fight to a game-winner in the final minutes, the Phantoms knocked off the Norfolk Admirals 6-5 at the Wachovia Spectrum on Sunday night. Tony Voce was the hero, providing a three-goal night that was punctuated by the game-winning goal with 1:07 remaining. For the first time since March 18, the Phantoms allowed the game's first goal when Les Haggett redirected a shot from the left point at 2:39, giving his club a 1-0 lead. That started off a see-saw game in which Alexandre Picard, B.J. Abel and Brent Kelly scored goals opposite additional tallies from Norfolk's Eric Meloche and a second from Haggett. Voce then scored his first two goals 22 seconds apart to give Philadelphia a 5-3 lead at the 12:33 mark of the second. Shortly afteward, with 7:15 remaining in the period, a fight behind the Norfolk net resulted in goaltenders Martin Houle and Adam Munro engaging in fisticuffs near the Phantoms bench. Carl Corrazini and Pavel Vorobiev later pulled the Admirals even at 5-5, But Voce would have the last word. With his club on a two-man advantage due to a series of Norfolk indiscretions, Voce beat Crawford with a wrist shot from the right circle to complete the hat trick and take the 6-5 victory.
