Locke Leads 'Dogs Past Moose

Hamilton, ON - Corey Locke had a goal and three assists to help lead the Bulldogs past the Manitoba Moose by a score of 4-3 at Copps Coliseum on Sunday evening. It was the Bulldogs second win in a row and improved the team's record to 33-40-0-4.

Hamilton defenceman Andre Benoit opened the scoring at the 1:27 mark of the opening frame when he fired a wrist shot past Manitoba goaltender Maxime Ouellet.

Andrei Kostitsyn increased the Bulldogs lead to 2-0 at the 1:04 mark of the second period with Hamilton on the power play. Kostitsyn received a pass from Corey Locke and roofed a backhand shot over Ouellet. Pierre Dagenais also earned an assist. Manitoba cut Hamilton's lead in half at 6:04 when Kevin Bieksa one-timed a shot from the point past Bulldogs' netminder Jaroslav Halak.

Locke gave the Bulldogs a 3-1 lead at 16:42 of the third period when he buried a rebound. Brandon Nolan cut the ‘Dogs lead to 3-2 at 17:14 when he took a shot from the point that beat Halak. With an extra attacker on the ice at 19:24, the Moose tied the game when Jesse Schultz scored his 37th goal of the season. With just 18 seconds remaining, Kostitsyn scored his second goal of the game to give the Bulldogs the 4-3 win.

Halak made 27 saves on 30 shots to earn the win, while Ouellet made 25 saves on 29 shots for the loss.

Hamilton was 1 for 5 on the power play while Manitoba went 1 for 7.
