Reid named to All-Star team
January 3, 2006 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Corpus Christi IceRays News Release
Corpus Christi Rayz goaltender, Scott Reid has been named to the 2006 CHL Southern Conference All-Star Team, the Central Hockey League announced Tuesday afternoon as part of the final All-Star selections. The All-Star appearance will be Reid's third straight, after starting for the Southern Conference the last two seasons. Reid was selected as one of 12 additional Southern Conference players, after last week's starting lineups were announced. Reid currently ranks in the top three in the Southern Conference in saves, save percentage and minutes played. The 2006 All-Star Game will be played in Hidalgo, TX on Wednesday, January 18th.
Reid, 28, has been one of the premier goaltenders in the CHL over the past three seasons. The Grande Prairie, Alberta native won the Most Outstanding Goaltender Award in 2004, and was the runner up last season. In his first season with the Rayz this year, the 6'3", 204 lbs. backstop has posted an 8-10-1 record, with a 3.12 GAA and .921 save percentage. Reid has been a workhorse for the Rayz, facing more shots per game than any goaltender in the CHL. Earlier in the season, Reid was rewarded for his solid play with a call up to the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League. While there, Reid appeared in two games, and earned a 1-1 record. He finished his stint in Milwaukee with a 1.64 GAA and .944 save percentage, and stopped four of five shooters in a shootout.
"I'm honored and excited to have been selected to the All-Star Team," Reid said. "These events are always a lot of fun for everyone involved, from the players to the fans. I hope to represent the Rayz and the City of Corpus Christi well."
Reid was selected by Laredo Bucks Head Coach, Terry Ruskowski, who will serve as the Southern Conference Head Coach in the All-Star Game. Reid joins Rayz captain Bernie John as the Corpus Christi representatives at the All-Star Game. Last Friday John was voted in as a starting defenseman on the Southern Conference team.
The Rayz will kick off 2006 on Friday night, when they host the Fort Worth Brahmas on Fine Jewelry Outlet Ladies Night, presented by K-99. It's another installment of the Great Diamond Giveaway. The Rayz will give away a $6,000 diamond to one lucky fan at the game - Guaranteed. While at FJO, fans can get tickets to a special Fine Jewelry Outlet section for only $8. For more information, please call the Rayz at (361)814-PUCK.
