Duck Tales... Despite the lopsided loss, give some credit to the Ducks defense and starter Brian Bowles. Three times on the day Patriot batters loaded the bases against Bowles, and all three times the Ducks escaped without allowing any runs across... Kevin Nicholson now has seven home runs on the season after his two-run shot in the sixth inning this afternoon, making it three home runs for the Somerset short stop this series, and his fourth against the Ducks in 2005... Patrick Lennon may have lost his 14-game hitting streak, and the same for Justin Davies and his six-gamer, but Pete Rose, Jr., Juan Lorenzo, Chris Latham, and Henry Rodriguez all kept theirs going... It has now been 50 days (21 games) since Pete Jr. has not reached base in a game at Citibank Park...This afternoon's crowd of 6,179, the nineteenth sellout of the season, raises the total to 2,367,720 fans who have enjoyed baseball at Citibank Park since April of 2000.
The Long Island Ducks, 2004 Atlantic League champions, play their home games at Citibank Park and are in their sixth season of play in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. They have filled their ballpark to over 100 percent capacity in each of their first five seasons and are one of the most successful minor league franchises in the country.
