
Bears strand 14 IN 8-4 loss to Camden

NEWARK, NJ, June 26-The Newark Bears left a season-high 14 runners on base and were defeated by the Camden Riversharks, 8-4, Sunday afternoon at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium. The Bears, who dropped three of four to Camden, closed out their seven game homestand with just two victories.
The Bears left at least one man on base in every inning despite producing 15 hits in the game. Newark left the bases loaded in both the 7th and 9th innings.
Trailing 6-0, the Bears plated four runs in the 7th and had a chance for more, but Wil Quintana, who had homered to lead off the inning, was struck out by Todd Rizzo with the bases juiced. Quintana had three hits in the game, including his 6th home run.
Tom McGee and Teuris Olivares also had three hits for Newark and Abraham Ayala had a pair of hits to extend his hitting streak to eight straight games.
Camden right-hander Greg Powell (6-3) earned the win, allowing 4 runs and 10 hits over 6.2 innings of work. He was backed up by Troy Cameron's two hit and 4 RBI performance for Camden. Cameron had a two-run double in the 6th inning and a two-run home run, his 2nd of the year, in the 8th inning.
Catcher Guy Lynam of Camden had three hits, a single, triple and home run (his 4th), and drove in a pair of runs.
The Bears will begin a three-game series in Somerset Monday night at 7:05 PM with right-hander Andy Zwirchitz (2-4) starting for Newark.
