Connecticut Whale News Release
Hartford, February 26, 2004 - The Hartford Wolf Pack have been pretty stingy as of late with their opponents (they're unbeaten in their last eight, with four shutouts to boot), but the Pack is being plenty generous with fans and the community. This past Monday, the team raised more than $27,000 for the Gaylord Hospital at their first-ever 'Tip A Wolf Pack Player' event at Coach's. This weekend, the team will hold a silent auction to benefit the Children's Cancer Fund at Connecticut Children's Medical Center (CCMC).
Against Lowell on Saturday, former US Olympic goalie Jim Craig will be on hand to help recognize Jason LaBarbera's shutout record, and the team will give away FootPrints/WTIC Ken Gernander Growth Charts to the first 2,004 kids under the age of 12 through the gates. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
On Sunday, when the team plays Springfield at 4:05 p.m., a silent auction will take place throughout the game to raise funds for the CCMC. Items such as autographed sports memorabilia, a two-night stay at Foxwoods Resort & Casino and a Squire Strat Fender Guitar signed by members of the bands Hoobastank, P.O.D., and Linkin Park will be up for grabs. In addition, the first 2,004 people at the game will get a Lynch Scion Toyota T-shirt, and one lucky contestant have the opportunity to try for a new car. For the kids, characters Dexter and DeeDee from Cartoon Network's Dexter's Laboratory will be at the game as part of Cartoon Network's Hullabaloo, courtesy of Cox Media; and, between periods, there will be a Sled Hockey demonstration.
The AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack hockey club is part of Madison Square Garden L.P. Cablevision Systems Corporation owns a controlling interest in MSG L.P., which also includes the New York Rangers (NHL), New York Knicks (NBA), the New York Liberty (WNBA), the MSG Network, Fox Sports Net and the Madison Square Garden arena complex.
