Missouri River Otters News Release

Head coach/director of hockey operation Mark Reeds of the Missouri River Otters of the United Hockey League (UHL) announced today that rookie goaltender Ryan McIntosh has been signed to a 14-day professional try-out.

McIntosh, who appeared in eight games earlier this season with the Rockford IceHogs, played the third period of Sunday's 5-3 loss in Kalamazoo with six saves on seven shots. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of Calgary, Alberta was 2-3-0 with Rockford, while notching a 3.64 goals against average (GAA) and .870 save percentage. He was added to the River Otters roster on Sunday with Brian Regan taking the day off for rest.

The 26-year-old netminder did not play professional hockey last season. Following his senior season (2000-2001) at NCAA Division III Augsburg College, McIntosh played in two games for the archrival Quad City Mallards and recorded two wins with 43 stops on 45 shots over both games. His professional debut on March 17, 2001 was a 2-0, 17-save shutout of the River Otters; it was the only shutout surrendered by the River Otters that season.

McIntosh posted the most wins (24) and the best save percentage (.917) of his collegiate career at Augsburg during his freshman season (1997-1998). For his efforts that year, he was named NCAA Division III All American. His career record at Augsburg is 47-35-13.

The River Otters are on the road all weekend, playing Muskegon on Friday, Rockford on Saturday and Port Huron on Sunday afternoon.
