Berkshire Black Bears News Release
PITTSFIELD-The Berkshire Black Bears came into Wednesday nights game against Albany in good spirits after Tuesday night's come back win. The mood quickly changed though as both Manager George "Boomer" Scott and Pitching Coach Rafael Valdez were both ejected for arguing a controversial call at first base. The Black Bears ended up losing the game 6-1.
Starting pitcher Dallas Mahan had a rough night pitching 4 1/3 innings allowing all 6 runs, all earned, on 10 hits while walking 1 and striking out 1. Greg McKoule came on in relief and pitched perfect baseball for 1 2/3 innings. He was replaced by Frank Philbrick to start the 7th inning. Philbrick allowed no hits and struck out 1. Ty Ryburn pitched the 8th inning allowing no hits, giving up 1 walk and striking out 1. Matt Bailie pitched the 9th inning allowing 2 hits while walking and striking out none.
Ryan Nevins led the Black Bears at the plate going 2 for 4. George Garcia, who went 1 for 4, scored the Black Bears only run, coming in from third on a wild pitch. Other Black Bears to collect hits were Edgar Gonzalez and Derrick Gutierrez. The final game of the series happens tomorrow night at Wahconah Park with the first pitch at 7:05.
