Zukiwsky Finally Finds a Home
October 24, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release
Anchorage, Alaska â After two brief stops in Idaho and San Diego, bruising forward Jarret Zukiwsky has agreed to terms for a second stint with the Anchorage Aces pro hockey club for the remainder of the 2002-03 season.
Zukiwsky, with only 184 career games played thanks to numerous injuries, falls far short of "veteran" status (320 games) even though he will turn 30 on Pearl Harbor Day. He actually scored for Idaho in its season-opening 6-2 win over the Aces two weeks ago and now will be in the Anchorage locker room when it draws the curtain on the home opener tomorrow night at Sullivan Arena. Zukiwsky appeared in 51 games for the Aces over parts of two seasons (1999-2001), scoring 13 goals and assisting on 19 others with 226 minutes in penalties. His amateur career included four seasons in the Western Hockey League and four brilliant years at the University of Lethbridge between 1993-97, when he scored 157 goals in 151 collegiate contests.
The Hanson Brothers, in addition to being on hand for Friday night (7:00) and Sunday afternoon (5:00) games against the Steelheads, will be making appearances at the Lake Otis and Abbott Loop Subway location Friday from Noon-2:00 p.m. and Sunday at the Dimond Center Mall ice arena from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday broadcast times for the Idaho series have been set at 6:45 p.m., with coverage beginning at 4:45 p.m. for Sunday's series finale. Jack Michaels handles the play-by-play duties for all games on KFQD 750 AM, presented by GCI.
