New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

The New Orleans Zephyrs defeated the visiting Tacoma Rainiers on Friday by a score of 3-1 to sweep the four-game series.

All of the Zephyrs offense came from back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning. First shortstop Mark Kiger, in his first action as a Zephyr since being called up from Double-A, hit a two-run home run followed by catcher Robinson Cancel's solo blast immediately after. Cancel finished 2-3 overall.

Zephyrs starting pitcher Jose Santiago (4-7) gets the win after throwing five innings. Santiago gave up only one run on five hits.

Reliever Willie Collazo picked up his third save of the year after allowing one hit but no runs in the final three innings.

Tacoma starting pitcher Tomo Ohka (0-5) gets the loss after giving up three runs on nine hits in six innings.

The win gives the Zephyrs their fourth series sweep of the season and the team is also on a season-best win streaking, taking their seventh win in-a-row.

The Zephyrs stay at home to complete the homestand and will take on the Portland Beavers in the first of a four-game set Saturday at 6:00 PM CT.
