Portland Beavers News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY - Drew Macias was 4-for-4 with a home run, Pete Laforest homered and drove in three runs and Mike Thompson pitched eight strong innings as the Portland Beavers beat the Oklahoma RedHawks 12-4 Friday night at AT&T Brickyard Ballpark.

The 12 runs scored were the third-most of the season for Portland (43-64), who snapped a seven-game road losing streak with the victory.

Oaklahoma (53-51) lost to the Beavers at home for the first time in nearly three years and in doing so surrendered the highest run total of any RedHawks opponent in Oklahoma City this season.

Thompson (3-9) allowed only six hits and one run in eight innings while striking out two to earn his third win.

RedHawks starter Mike Wood (8-3) gave up five runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings to take the loss.

The Beavers opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the third inning on Brian Myrow's RBI single and Laforest's sacrifice fly. Oklahoma got one back in the bottom of the third but couldn't get more off Thompson, while Portland added a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth.

Laforest's two-run home run capped a four-run seventh inning for the Beavers, before Yordany Ramirez followed Macias' two-run blast with a solo shot of his own in the eighth.

Myrow was 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs for Portland. Chang added two hits, including a two-run double in the fifth inning.

Ian Kinsler, Kevin Mahar and Guillermo Quiroz each had two hits to lead Oklahoma.

Portland opens a four-game series in New Orleans on Saturday. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m. (Pacific).

NOTES: On Friday, the San Diego Padres traded Portland right-hander Leo Rosales to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for outfielder Scott Hairston ... Wood began the game with a PCL-best 2.95 ERA, which rose to 3.21 in the loss ... in the first three games of the series, Portland had been outscored 24-6 ... 19 of Laforest's 25 home runs have come on the road ... Both of Macias' home runs for the Beavers have been the first of back-to-back shots, as Macias and Frank Menechino combined to accomplish the feat on June 7 vs. Tacoma ... Kinsler started for the RedHawks at second base in the first game of a major league rehab assignment.
