Game Keys -Former Zephyr Valentino Pascucci ripped a three run home run and the Isotopes defeated the Z's 7-4 on Sunday afternoon in Albuquerque. The win is the Isotopes sixth consecutive win over the Zephyrs. New Orleans jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to a two run home run from catcher John Purdom in the second. The Z's tacked on a unearned run in the third to lead 3-0. Albuquerque scored a run in the fourth and added four more in the fifth to grab the lead.
Z's starter Brett Sinkbeil pitched four and 1/3 innings and suffered the defeat allowing 5 runs. Giancarlo Alvarado pitched five innings for the win. Hector Luna continued his hot hitting for the Topes adding another home run and three hits.
The Zephyrs pitchers have allowed 35 runs in the first three games of the series and are last in the PCL in pitching. The Z's have lost 3 in a row and fallen 3 ½ games back of first place Albuquerque.
Game Notes: Marlins top prospect Cameron Maybin was optioned to Triple A New Orleans after the Marlins loss Sunday in Denver. The 22 year old was batting .202 this season with the Marlins. The Z's added pitcher Jay Buente from Class AA Jacksonville. He appeared in 12 games and had no record with a 2.12 ERA. Zephyr starter Dallas Trahern was placed on the disabled list with a right medial elbow strain. John Raynor extended his hit streak to 10 games. The Isotopes have won all six meetings against the Z's.
Coming Up: The Zephyrs and Isotopes wrap up the series Monday afternoon at 1:05. New Orleans will start LH John Koronka (2-1, 3.00) against knuckle-baller Charlie Haegar (3-2, 5.58). The Z's return home on Tuesday to open their first eight game home stand of the season. The series will match the Zephyrs against the Tacoma Rainiers.
