Round Rock Express News Release

(ROUND ROCK) - Josh Hamilton was the star attraction at the Dell Diamond Sunday afternoon, and the Oklahoma City RedHawks (11-17) stole the show with a 4-3 extra innings win over Round Rock (14-17).

Hamilton went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in three plate appearances in his rehab start with the RedHawks, and put on an abbreviated show in pre-game batting practice, including a first swing that sent a ball over the shed in center field.

Round Rock jumped out to an early lead in the second inning thanks to a solo home run by Yordany Ramirez to left-center field on a 1-0 pitch from RedHawks starter Elizardo Ramirez. Reggie Abercrombie added to the lead with a monster solo blast of his own in the third inning, launching the 1-0 offering from Ramirez onto the roof of the home run porch in left field.

Hamilton helped Oklahoma City chip away at the lead when he led off the seventh inning with a single to right field off of Express reliever Evan Englebrook. Nate Gold followed with a double to left field, putting runners at second and third. A groundout by Brandon Boggs allowed Hamilton to score, making it 2-1.

An inning later, the RedHawks kept rolling. Kevin Richardson doubled off of Round Rock reliever Brendan Donnelly to lead off the inning, Greg Golson moved him over with a sacrifice bunt and Esteban German singled to left-center to score Richardson and tied the game at 2-2. One out later, German stole second base, and then scored on a Casey Benjamin single to right-center field to take a 3-2 lead.

John Gall tied the game back up in the eighth inning with a solo home run off of former Express pitcher and Round Rock native Brian Gordon.

Oklahoma City struck the final blow in the 10th inning, when German singled with one out, and German Duran singled through the hole at second base to put runners at first and third. Benjamin then hit a sacrifice fly to deep center field, allowing German to score for a 4-3 lead.

Warner Madrigal then struck out the side in the bottom of the 10th inning for Oklahoma City, sealing the win.

It was the first extra innings game of the season for the Express.

Hamilton is scheduled to return for one more rehab start in Monday's game before joining the Rangers again.

The two teams meet up for the series finale at 12:05 p.m. on Monday, as part of D.A.R.E. Day at the Dell Diamond. Express RHP Jose Capellan will take on RedHawks LHP Michael Ballard.
