New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
Clay Hensley pitched eight shutout innings as the Zephyrs won their second consecutive game over the Royals 6-0 at Rosenblatt Stadium. Hensley allowed three hits and struckout seven earning his eighth win of the season. The Z's right handed allowed two of the three hits in the first inning. It was the sixth shutout of the season by the Z's pitching staff, fifth in the month of August.
The Z's offense collected 11 hits led by John Raynor with three. John Lindsey hammered a double and drove in his team leading 82nd and 83rd runs of the season in the fifth inning. Gaby Sanchez returned from the Marlins and reached base four times including a two rbi double in the third inning.
Omaha lefty Mike O'Connor pitched five innings and suffered the loss. Game Notes: New Orleans added infielder Gaby Sanchez from the Marlins. Z's also added AJ Battista from Jacksonville. The Marlins promoted pitchers Luis Ayala and Tim Wood to Florida. The win assured the Zephyrs of their first winning season against Omaha since 2000. The Z's pitching staff leads the PCL in ERA in the month of August.
