Chicago Steel News Release

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The USHL-leading Chicago Steel (17-4-4-0; 38 pts.) face off against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on Saturday, Dec. 18 at 7:05 pm CT at Fox Valley Ice Arena for Scooby-Doo Night and a Steel Family Pack Game, a popular ticket deal available with 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 chips, 4 sodas/waters and 4 chuck-a-pucks for just $50. To secure the Family Pack deal, fans can call 855-51-STEEL or enter the promo code 'family' when prompted for online ticket sales.

Fun and mysterious games with lucky contestants throughout the night will bring back memories of the nostalgia from Saturday morning cartoons which featured Scooby, Shaggy, Fred, Velma, Daphne and the Mystery Machine. Classic villains from the tv show, two mummies will be making an appearance at the game but it will be Steel fans who team up to see who can complete the 'mummy wrap' the fastest. Fans will be invited to participate in a game of 'Guess Who' as adorable childhood photos from Steel players will be displayed on the videoboard. Some fans will even get to 'Find Velma's Glasses' and 'Herd the Ghosts' during breaks in the action.

In the team's most recent action, the Steel wrapped up back-to-back 6-4 victories against Cedar Rapids and Muskegon last weekend, giving Chicago a current three-game win streak.

Helping the club to the pair of weekend victories was Steel defenseman Jake Livanavage who totaled a three-assist game on Dec. 10 and scored the game-winning goal on Dec. 11, earning his first career USHL Defenseman of the Week honor in the process. The University of North Dakota commit currently shares fourth among league blueliners with 21 points (2G, 19A) in 25 games played this season.

Before the RoughRiders make the trek to Fox Valley Ice Arena on Saturday, the Eastern Conference foes square off at ImOn Ice Arena on Friday, Dec. 17 at 7:05 pm CT.

In addition to the 6-4 victory on Dec. 10, the Steel earned a 3-2 win on Nov. 19 over Cedar Rapids, giving Chicago a spotless 2-0-0-0 mark this season against the RoughRiders. The weekend's two-game set will be the third and fourth of seven scheduled matchups between the Steel and RoughRiders.

Cedar Rapids bounced back from the defeat against Chicago on Dec. 10 with a decisive 5-2 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers at ImOn Ice Arena the following night. In the win, RoughRiders forward Adam Flammang jumped to the top of the Cedar Rapids points list with a career-high three-point game (2G, 1A). Through 21 outings, the Bemidji State University-bound forward has registered 10 goals and seven assists, including a helper in the 6-4 loss against the Steel on Dec. 10.

The RoughRiders boast two skaters listed on the NHL Central Scouting preliminary watch list for the 2022 NHL Draft, both 'C'-rated prospects. Forward Zacch Wisdom, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound skater, and 5-foot-10, 205-pound blueliner Eric Pohlkamp are both in their rookie campaigns in the USHL.

After the two-game series against the RoughRiders and a week-long holiday break, the Steel return to action for a special Thursday night game on Dec. 30 with a 6:05 pm CT puck drop against the Madison Capitols. The first 500 fans at the game will receive a Steel Lunchbox Cooler.

Tickets for Steel games start at just $10 and are available in person at the Steel Box Office at Fox Valley Ice Arena, by phone at 855-51-STEEL and online at ChicagoSteelHockeyTeam.com. The Steel now offer single-game ticket discounts for kids 12 and under and military.
