
Muskegon Migrates to Green Bay for Weekend Series

MUSKEGON, Mich. - The Muskegon Lumberjacks travel to Green Bay, Wisc. for a two-game, weekend series against the Green Bay Gamblers on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 17 and 18. Both contests will start at 8:05 pm EST from the Resch Center. This will mark the first time Muskegon and the Gamblers meet each other this season, with late March being the last time these two teams faced off against each other in the regular season. In last year's playoffs, the Lumberjacks swept Green Bay out of the first round.
Gambling Against Green Bay
The Gamblers have had a tough time this year, as they currently sit in seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings with 19 points and an overall record of 9-11-0-1. The last time Green Bay took the ice, they split their series with Madison, losing 4-to-1 on Dec. 10 and winning 6-to-2 on Dec. 11. The Gamblers have a pair of NHL draft picks on their roster, those being Jackson Hallum and Brody Lamb. Hallum was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights #91 overall in the third round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, while Lamb was selected by the New York Rangers #104 overall in the fourth round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Leading the way for Green Bay is Hallum who currently leads the team in goals with a stat line of 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points. Cameron Lund is not too far behind Hallum, having scored nine goals and four assists for 13 points. Lastly in the forward group is Alex Servagno, who has five goals and nine assists for 14 points in 21 games. On defense, Damien Carfagna leads the team in assists and points, having scored three goals and 23 assists for 26 points in 20 games this year. In goal, Aaron Randazzo has emerged as Green Bay's number one goaltender with a record of 6-7-0 in 16 games played, a 3.27 GAA and a .900 save percentage.
About Last Weekend
The Lumberjacks continue to be one of the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference by winning eight of the last ten games. Most recently, the Jacks stunned Team USA U18, winning 3-to-2 in a Wednesday morning match. Ben Strinden, Jake Richard, and Joey Larson all scored for the Jacks in the victory over Team USA. Prior to that, Muskegon dropped a 6-to-4 decision to the Chicago Steel on Saturday, Dec. 11. Jake Richard and Nathan McBrayer both scored their first career goals in the USHL, but the comeback was not to be. The Lumberjacks collected four more points in the Eastern Conference standings and are still locked in fourth place in the standings with 27 points, and an overall record of 12-9-1-2.

Muskegon Lumberjacks forward Quinn Hutson had been temporarily loaned to the United States National Team Development Program (USNTDP) U18 squad last weekend. Hutson, the 5-foot-11, 171-pound forward has appeared in 21 games with the Lumberjacks this season, totaling 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points. The Barrington, Ill. native leads the Lumberjacks in points, is second on the team in goals and assists, and was recently named USHL Forward of the Week in week 10 of the USHL regular season. Hutson is committed to play for the Boston University Terriers out of Hockey East. As part of the loan agreement, Hutson joined the USNTDP U18 squad for two games this last weekend where he skated alongside his younger brother, Lane, who is currently a defenseman on USNTDP. The USNTDP is played a pair of road games against Boston University, where Quinn scored the game-winning goal, and Merrimack College.

NHL Central Scouting Watch List
On Tuesday, Oct. 19, National Hockey League (NHL) Central Scouting released their preliminary watch list for the upcoming 2022 NHL Entry Draft. In all, six current and three future Jacks made the list. Current Lumberjacks include defensemen Tyler Dunbar, Jacob Guevin, and Jeremiah Slavin; forwards Owen Mehlenbacher and Ethan Whitcomb; and goaltender Cameron Korpi. In addition to the original six, three affiliates were named to the watch list, those being Michael Callow, Matthew Morden, and George Fegaras. The Lumberjacks also boast 12 players eligible to be selected in this year's NHL Entry Draft which will take place from July 7 through July 9 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec.
Jacks in the NHL Draft
The Jacks boast an NHL draft pick to the roster with defenseman Noah Ellis. Committed to play at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Ellis was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights No. 184 overall in the sixth round of the 2020 NHL Draft. The Urbandale, Iowa native appeared in 40 games with the USHL's Des Moines Buccaneers during the fi2020-21 season, totaling five goals and 12 assists for 17 points.
