Metairie, LA. â Colin Porter was 2-4 with four runs driven in to lead the New Orleans Zephyrs (71-72) to an 8 to 0 victory over the Memphis Redbirds (63-79) on Sunday Night at Zephyr Field.
The Z's would score five runs in the third as Jason Alfaro had an RbI single, Porter had a two run single and Mike Moriarty had a two run triple. Tripp Cromer would hit a home run in the fourth inning and Porter would add another two run double to make the score 8 to 0.
Doug Sessions (9-5) would benefit from the run support picking up the win pitching six innings allowing five hits, no walks and striking out four. Miguel Saladin would pitch three innings allowing one hit to pick up his third save of the season. Clint Weibl (3-6) would suffer the loss pitching five innings allowing six earned runs on ten hits.
The Zephyrs look to finish the season at .500 on Monday at 2:05 PM. Monday is Fan Appreciation Day with the first 2003 Fans receiving a gift from the Zephyrs. It is also Military Monday. Show your military I.D. and receive 50% percent off regular adult admission ticket price. DJ Houlton (3-3, 4.99) is scheduled to start for the Zephyrs and Jeremy Cummings (6-3, 4.99) for the Redbirds.
