OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma - Kevin Mattison drilled a three run second inning home run and the visiting New Orleans Zephyrs defeated the first place Oklahoma City RedHawks 8-0 in front of 9,985 fans at Bricktown Ballpark. The Zephyrs pitched their eighth shutout of the season.
The Zephyrs sent ten batters to the plate in the second inning scoring five runs. Mattison drilled his eighth home run of the season off of RedHawks starter Armando Galarraga.
Zephyrs starter Elih Villanueva pitched six shutout innings allowing six hits and one walk. Villanueva earned his sixth win of the season and has won three of his last four starts.
The Z's offense scored three additional runs in the seventh when Luke Montz crushed a double off the wall scoring three runs. Montz had four RBI in the game.
Juan Oviedo retired one batter and allowed a hit and a walk in the seventh and left with tightness. Robert Ray came in and recorded the final eight outs. The Zephyrs lead the series 2-1 and with a win on Sunday would win season series.
