Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
The Albuquerque Isotopes were held to just four hits, as the âTopes fell to the New Orleans Zephyrs 3-0 in Spring Training action today in Jupiter, Florida. Albuquerque's pre-season record is now 5-4-1.
Of the four total knocks by Isotopes, two belonged to Robert Andino, who had a pair of singles to lead Albuquerque's offense. Ryan Bear and Scott Seabol each had a hit apiece.
Starting pitcher Wes Obermueller threw well, allowing one run in five-plus innings of work, but ended up the hard-luck loser, his first set-back since joining Albuquerque on March 20.
Meanwhile, in Major League camp, Isotopes icon Jason Wood continues to make a great impression, batting .400 with two homers while playing nearly every day for the Marlins. In today's 12-6 Florida loss to the Boston Red Sox, the veteran infielder started the game at third and finished on the mound, pitching an inning to close out the game. Wood is closing in on making a big league Opening Day roster for the first time since 1998.
The Isotopes will play their last home game of Spring Training tomorrow against the Memphis Redbirds before closing out the exhibition season with three straight road games.
