PEORIA, AZ - Four Omaha pitchers combined to allow just six hits, leading the Royals to a 4-1 win over the Portland Beavers on Sunday at the San Diego Padres Spring Training Complex in Peoria.
Lefty Tyler Lumsden, one of Kansas City's top prospects acquired last summer from the Chicago White Sox in the Mike MacDougal trade, gave up one run on four hits over the first four innings.
Right-hander Cody Smith followed with three hitless innings of relief. Southpaws Wayne Franklin and Neal Musser each tossed a scoreless stanza.
Craig Brazell had two of the Royals five hits, stroking a pair of doubles, knocking in two runs and scoring once.
Omaha, which improved its Cactus League record to 3-2-2, faces the Nashville Sounds Monday at the Milwaukee Brewers Spring Training complex in Phoenix.
Also on Monday, Mark Nasser will host a live, two-hour Omaha Royals Preview Show from Arizona. The show will air from 5-7 p.m. on News Talk 1420 AM KOTK.
The Royals open their 2007 Pacific Coast League season on Thursday, April 5th at Albuquerque, with the home opener at Rosenblatt Stadium slated for Friday, April 13th at 7:05 p.m., also vs. the Isotopes.
