New Britain Bees News Release
(New Britain, Conn.) - New Britain Bees team officials today announced that starting pitcher Josh Zeid has had his contract purchased by the New York Mets organization. He will report to Binghamton (AA).
"Zeid has been a great part of our rotation this season and a consummate professional on and off the field," said Bees Manager Stan Cliburn. "We wish him the absolute best with the Mets organization."
Zeid made eight appearances with the Bees, including 7 starts, and struck out 43 batters over 47 2/3 innings of work. The 2004 Gatorade Connecticut High School Player of the Year was drafted in the 10th round of the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies, and made his MLB debut for the Houston Astros in 2013. The 28 year old has 48 games of major league relief experience, all with Houston.
Zeid is the third Bees player to have his contract purchased during the 2016 inaugural Bees season, joining Nick Greenwood (Minnesota) and current Bee Eric Fornataro (Baltimore).
