Bridgeport Bluefish News Release
(Bridgeport, Conn.) - Bridgeport Bluefish team officials today announced the addition of pitcher Paul Demny, who was acquired in a trade with New Jersey of the Can-Am League for a player to be named later.
"We think Paul will be a dynamic asset to our bullpen," says Bluefish Manager Luis Rodriguez. "We're excited to have him join us and look forward to seeing what he will do."
Paul Demny comes to Bridgeport during his ninth season of professional baseball and first in the Atlantic League, after being acquired from the New Jersey Jackals of the Can-Am League for a player to be named later. He began the 2016 season with Double-A Bowie (Baltimore) of the Eastern League. Last year, the pitcher made 44 combined relief appearances between Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Syracuse, both affiliates of the Washington Nationals. He collected a combined 2.28 ERA and struck out 73 batters in 59.1 innings. The 26-year-old made his professional debut in 2008 after being selected by the Washington Nationals in the sixth round of the MLB draft. Up until this season, he has spent his entire career within the Nationals organization. In 214 career minor league appearances, Paul owns 40 wins with a 4.38 ERA and 706 strikeouts in 769.0 innings of work.
