Zach Currier Named NLL Transition Player of the Year
June 29, 2022 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Calgary Roughnecks News Release
Calgary, AB - Calgary Roughnecks transition player Zach Currier has been named as the 2022 Transition Player of the Year for the National Lacrosse League end of season awards.
Currier, 28, led the league in loose ball recoveries at 237. He also set a record for most caused turnovers in a season with 62 (the next closest on the season recorded 39). Among defensemen and transition players, he ranked in the top 10 in points with 19 (10g, 9a).
This is the first Transition Player of the Year award for Currier, who becomes the second Roughneck to win the award since Jeff Shattler in 2011.
"We truly thought Zach was our team MVP this season," said head coach Curt Malawsky. "His transitional skills are off the charts, and his ability to read the play and react to where the ball will be, rather than where it is, is second to none. His finish around the net was exceptional this season, and he scored some game-changing goals for us."
