Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (5-5) remained at #12 in this weeks af2 Coaches Poll. Last week the Yard Dawgz got their first win in over a month against the Southwest Division leading and then #5 ranked Arkansas Twisters (7-3), 56-54. The Dawgz were once ranked as high as #2 before losing five straight in the month of May, a month the Dawgz will be quick to forget. This Saturday, the Dawgz return home to take on the Milwaukee Iron (4-6). This will be the first time the two teams have faced off against one another.

In last weeks victory, Oklahoma City got two key defensive stops late in the fourth quarter, including a fumble recovery in the end zone by DB Tito Jose as Arkansas attempted to close in on the Dawgz lead. Oklahoma City DE Colin Bryant also sacked Arkansas QB Kyle Rowley on a two-point conversion that would have tied the game with under a minute to play. Yard Dawgz WR Al Hunt reached another career and arenafootball2 milestone, becoming the first player in league history to hit the 200 career touchdown mark, stretching his lead as the af2's all-time leading career touchdown leader (204). Hunt finished the game with a game high 136 receiving yards on 8 catches with 5 total TDs, including one rushing touchdown. He is also the leagues all time leading scorer (1,238 points). WR Craig Fulton Jr. also scored twice and had a game high 176 all-purpose yards.

Saturday's game against the Iron will be the first of a two game home stand for the Dawgz. The matchup will pit one of the leagues best offenses against the leagues top defense. The Yard Dawgz average 322 ypg, third best in af2, but will have find some weaknesses in the Iron's defense, ranked #1 in af2 and allowing only 228.7 ypg. The Iron also boast the leagues first ranked pass defense (208.6 ypg) and sixth ranked rush defense (20.1 ypg). The Dawgz enter the game with the league's third ranked total offense (322 ypg) and are first in af2 in rush offense (45.6 ypg) and fourth in pass offense (276.4 ypg).

The Yard Dawgz seek revenge against the Corpus Christi Sharks on Saturday, June 20th at the Cox Convention Center. Yard Dawgz Flex Packs are now on sale starting at just $50!
