
Firebirds Reunion Set For This Weekend

ALBANY, NY - The Albany Firebirds of arenafootball2 announced today further details surrounding their Albany Firebirds Reunion set for this weekend. The franchise will recognize former players with events beginning Thursday evening and culminating on Saturday night at their Times Union Center home game against the Mahoning Valley Thunder at 7:00 p.m.
The list of returning Firebird players includes Reggie Barlow (1996), John Chaney (1991-92), Fred Gayles (1990-96), Myron Jefferson (1991-93), Mike Delaney (1993-94, 1998), Pete Porcelli (1990-1993), Mitch Suplee (1992-96), Leroy Thompson (1996-2000), and Mark Valvo-Biggs (1993-2000), along with current Birds coaches Chad Dukes (1996-98), Charlie Davidson (1996-97) and Tony Bowick (1996-97).
Festivities for the "Firebirds Weekend" kick-off on Thursday evening as quarterback Stephen Wasil and Fabulous Flame Candice will be celebrity bartenders at Broadway Joe's of Albany at the Times Union Center from 5pm to close. The Broadway Joe's event is part of the Downtown LIVE, Albany N.Y. music series that follows all Alive at Five dates.
The reunion activities will commence with a Welcome Back Reception at Kelsey's Restaurant, the site of the original Firebirds Post-Game Party, located at The Crowne Plaza Albany on Friday June 12, 2009 from 6-9pm! Kelsey's will offer an extensive buffet consisting of a carving station and a pasta station, along with a combination of hot and cold appetizers for just $5.00 to all Firebird fans. On Saturday the Firebirds old and new will head to the Pre-Game Block Party on South Pearl Street beginning at 5:30 p.m. where there will be an alumni table for autographs and meet-n-greets with all fans in attendance. The block party will also feature food, drinks, games, the US Army Rockwall, the Games2U mobile game theater and a live performance from 10 Year Vamp. Kickoff is at 7:00pm and the team is planning festivities throughout the game to honor the players and the championship-winning history of the franchise.
The Albany Firebirds look to earn their fifth victory in six games this Saturday against the Mahoning Valley Thunder at the Times Union Center at 7:00 p.m. All games can be viewed at www.albanyfirebirds.com.
