Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY - In an unexpected defensive battle between these two division rivals, The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (4-0) defeated the Amarillo Dusters (0-4). The game was an unusual twist on a typical af2 game, featuring longer offensive drives and game changing defensive stops rather than the high scoring affair af2 fans are used to.

Amarillo scored the first points of the game on a 9 yard TD catch by Alex Watson from to take a quick 7-0 lead, however Oklahoma City answered back on a touchdown catch of their own from veteran WR Al Hunt with 2:55 left in the first quarter.

On Oklahoma City's the first possession of the second quarter, Yard Dawgz QB Robert Kent hooked up with newly acquired wideout Danny Howard on a 20 yard TD to take a 14-7 lead. After the Dawgz forced the Dusters to attempt their second 30+ yard field goal, neither of which was good, Yard Dawgz leading receiver Agim Shabaj scored his first touchdown of the night. The Dusters scored their second TD of the night on a 34 yard Craig Fulton Jr. reception with 6:31 left to close Oklahoma lead to eight points. The Yard Dawgz answered back with a 1 yd TD run by Kent to take a 27-13 lead into the half.

Amarillo scored on the opening kick of the second half to make the Yard Dawgz lead 27-21. It would be the only score by either team in the third. However, the quarter wouldn't end without excitement, as Yard Dawgz DB Fred Shaw Intercepted an errant pass by Dusters QB Collin Drafts. The interception set up the first score of the final quarter, a Freddie Rollins 9 yard run. Amarillo gave it one last attempt to get back in the game on Drafts fourth TD pass of the game, a 10 yard TD grab by Xavier Hair. The Yard Dawgz defense was too physical and dominating to allow the Dusters to score again, allowing only one touchdown by the Dusters per quarter, and 161 total yards of offense. The Dawgz added one last touchdown to secure an Oklahoma City win 41-28.

The Yard Dawgz square off against the Rio Grande Valley Dorados next Friday, May 1st at the Cox Convention Center. Yard Dawgz single game tickets are on sale, starting at only $10!
