Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release
The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (4-5) take on the Southwest Division leading Arkansas Twisters (7-2) on Saturday, June 6th, at the Alltel Arena in North Little Rock, AR. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm CST. Saturday's matchup will be the 10th meeting all-time between the two teams. Oklahoma City leads the all-time series 5-4.
The Yard Dawgz will certainly be glad to play a game outside the month of May, as the team lost every game during the month after starting off the season to a franchise best record of 4-0. The Dawgz latest defeat comes at the hands of their in-state and Central Division archrival, the Tulsa Talons (8-1). Oklahoma City couldn't stop Tulsa's Jeff Hughley, who broke a Talons franchise record for most TDs in a game with seven. Dawgz WR Al Hunt continued to show his versatility by catching 2 TDs, running for another, and even passing for one.
The Dawgz secondary will have to find a way to slow down another threat in Twisters WR Rod Harper, who is on pace to break several af2 single season receiving records. Last week against Corpus Christi, Harper had 14 catches for 275 yards and 7 TDs. The Dawgz hope to steal one on the road against a talented Arkansas squad and return to the .500 mark for the season.
"We've gone from the top of the standings to fighting for playoff lives." said Head Coach Sparky McEwen. "I said when we were 4-0 it was going to be a long season. We now have to find a way to get back on the horse."
