Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY-On March 10th, 2007, the Yard Dawgz began training camp and the hunt for their next starting quarterback. The three men brought in to compete for the position were Stan Hill of Marshall University, Cody Hodges of Texas Tech University, and Jerad Romo of Southern Methodist University.

After two weeks of training camp, the Yard Dawgz and Head Coach John Fitzgerald have announced that Stan Hill will be the starter for the 2007 season.

Hill (6'3, 215) comes to the team with one year of af2 experience on his resume. He was a member of the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings in 2006.

The Marshall University starter was the nation's second highest rated quarterback and had the 4th best completion percentage in 2003. During his four seasons with the Thundering Herd (2001-2004). Hill threw for 4,711 yards, 38 touchdowns, and represented Marshall in the Las Vegas All-American Classic game. He was one of twenty-two candidates selected for the prestigious Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, presented annually to the nation's top senior quarterback.

"I'm very excited about the upcoming season and seeing how Hill will deliver," commented Fitzgerald. "He certainly has big shoes to fill with the retirement of Craig Strickland, but there is no doubt in my mind that he will do an outstanding job. Hill has been a winner at every level that he's played at and he will continue that tradition here in Oklahoma City."

Rookie Jerad Romo (6'2, 215) will be the backup behind Hill. While at SMU, Romo threw for 1,781 yards during his senior year.

The Yard Dawgz also announced they have traded QB Cody Hodges to the Fort Wayne Fusion for future considerations.

"Finding our starting quarterback was definitely the biggest competition we had during training camp," said Fitzgerald. "All three quarterbacks are very talented individuals, which made this decision very difficult."
