Yard Dawgs Make Training Camp Transactions

Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs News Release


ROANOKE, Va. - The Rail Yard Dawgs have announced the following training camp transactions:

Defenseman Jake Schultz made the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers roster and will open the ECHL season with Wheeling this weekend. Roanoke does retain his SPHL rights.

Forward Mitch Atkins was added to the roster on Thursday. The second-year pro split his rookie season in 2018-19 between the Evansville Thunderbolts, Fayetteville Marksmen, Birmingham Bulls and FHL's Elimra Enforcers.

Goaltender Jacob Caffrey, forwards Nick Pastorious and Jesse Schwartz and defenseman Devin Campbell did not join the team for training camp. Roanoke retains the SPHL rights to each player.

The Rail Yard Dawgs will take on the Fayetteville Marksmen for a preseason game at Fort Bragg on Saturday at 6:00 PM. The game will be the first ever professional hockey game played on a military installation.

The fourth season of Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs hockey will begin on October 18 in Pensacola. Roanoke's home opener will take place on October 26 against the Marksmen at 7:05 PM. Season tickets and ticket packages are available now and can be purchased by contacting the Dawgs at 540-266-7343.
