APPLETON, Wis. - The Battle Creek Yankees swept a double-header from the host Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, winning 4-1 and 4-2 Monday night in Midwest League baseball action at Fox Cities Stadium. After splitting six double-headers this season, the Yankees finally got a sweep - and a split of the four-game series with the Rattlers - to improve to 19-18 on the season. Battle Creek hosts Fort Wayne on Tuesday night at C.O. Brown Stadium to open an eight-game homestand.

GAME 1: KING TAMES RATTLERS 4-1

The Yankees strung together six straight hits in the fourth inning to back an impressive pitching performance by Jeremy King to defeat Wisconsin 4-1.

Four straight one-out doubles - by Eric Verbryke, Rudy Guillen, Juan Camacho and Tommy Rojas - plus singles by Gabe Lopez and Alexander Santa pushed across four runs in the fourth for the Yankees.

King (3-3) gave up a lead-off homer by Dustin Delucchi in the first inning - the second straight game the Wisconsin outfielder homered to start the game - but blanked the Rattlers the rest of the way. After the homer, King retired 14 straight before allowing a single with two outs in the fifth. He pitched six innings, ending with a two-hitter, nine strikeouts and no walks in facing just 21 batters. Matt Brumit pitched the seventh.

It was the 11th scheduled double-header for the Yankees. Four of those double-headers were postponed; but in the seven double-headers played, King has pitched in five of those.

Santa and Willie Vasquez each had two singles for the Yankees, while Guillen and Rojas each had two doubles.

GAME 2: YANKEES COMPLETE SWEEP 4-2

The Yankees used five hits and an error to score four runs with two outs in the first inning en route to a 4-2 win over Wisconsin in the nightcap.

Willie Vasquez singled with one out, and then with two outs, Omir Santos and Matt Carson followed with singles to load the bases. Rudy Guillen laced an RBI single, another run scored as Juan Camacho reached on an error, and Tommy Rojas ripped a two-run single for a 4-0 lead.

The Rattlers scored twice in the fourth to pull within 4-2. Matt Hagen hit a solo homer - his third homer against the Yankees in the series - to start the scoring. The Rattlers scored again, and then loaded the bases with two outs, but the Yankees got out of the inning.

Starter Jose Valdez (3-2) pitched five innings to pick up the win. Charlie Isaacson pitched the sixth and seventh innings for his third save.
