Richmond Roosters News Release
Richmond, IN- The New York Yankees have purchased the rights to Roosters' all-star pitcher Richard Barkley. He will be assigned to the Yankees class A affiliate in Battle Creek, MI, where he will likely be a member of the starting rotation.
Barkley has been the Roosters most consistent starting pitcher and was one of the team's representatives in St. Louis for the all-star game. On the year he had a 4-3 record and a 2.97 ERA. In his ten appearances, nine of them were starts where he totaled 60 2/3 innings pitched. He had allowed only 44 hits while walking 16 and striking out 64. He pitched one scoreless inning in the all-star game, a 10-2 win for the East Division.
It is unsure who will take Barkley's spot in the rotation.
