
Yankees' Gary Sanchez to Rehab at Coca-Cola Park

Allentown, Pa. - Yankees C Gary Sanchez - sidelined since April 8 with a strained right bicep -- is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders as they take on the IronPigs at Coca-Cola Park for a three-game series that begins Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network is the exclusive sponsor of all Major League rehabilitation appearances at Coca-Cola Park.
Tickets are still available for all upcoming games and can be purchased in-person at Coca-Cola Park (Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), by calling (610) 841-PIGS (7447) or online at ironpigsbaseball.com/tickets.
Sanchez, 24, has not appeared in a rehab assignment at any level this season. With the Yankees in five games, Sanchez was batting .150 (3-for-20) with a home run and two RBI.
Sanchez played in 53 games last year with the Yankees, hitting .299 with 20 home runs and 42 RBIs. Though he only played in 53 games, his 20 home runs was tied for fourth-best among all rookies in 2016. He was named the American League Player of the Month and Rookie of the Month last August.
The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native is a two-time representative in the All-Star weekend Futures Game for the World Team (2016 with Scranton, 2015 with Trenton).
Sanchez signed as an international free agent on July 2, 2009 by the New York Yankees. He quickly climbed through the Minor Leagues, reaching the Yankees for the first time in 2015 when he made his Major League Debut on Oct. 3, 2015 against the Baltimore Orioles (0-for-1) playing in two of the final three games for New York.
