
Yankees finish sweep of Braves

RICHMOND, VA - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees beat the Richmond Braves 5-2 at The Diamond Tuesday. The win gave the Yankees a sweep of the four game series. The Braves have lost four straight for the first time this season.
The Yankees took a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI double by Bronson Sardinha. They stretched that lead to 3-0 in the third on a home run by Omir Santos and an RBI single by Shelly Duncan. The Braves cut the lead to 3-2 in the sixth on a two run single by Doug Clark. The Yankees tacked on two more runs in the eighth on an RBI single by Eric Duncan and a throwing error.
Justin Pope tossed five shutout innings to earn the win. Edwar Ramirez picked up a save. Buddy Carlyle struck out six in four innings but took the loss. Sardinha and Chris Basak had two hits each for the Yankees. Clark and T.J. Bohn had two hits for the Braves.
The Braves are off Wednesday. They continue the homestand Thursday vs. the Norfolk Tides at 7 PM at The Diamond. Trey Hodges is slated to pitch for the Braves against Tim Kester.
