TAMPA -- The Miracle went 12-6 last season against Tampa but game one in 2009 did not go as planned as Fort Myers fell to the Yankees 3-1 in a rain-shortened seven innings.

Lance Pendleton (3-3) made his best start of the season for Tampa (19-23), as the young right-hander won his third game of the season and halted a personal three-game losing streak. Pendleton threw six and one-third of three-hit ball, with one unearned run, two walks, and five strikeouts.

Tyler Robertson (2-2) gave up nine hits in six innings and three earned runs, while walking two and fanning three. The Miracle did not score until the top of the seventh. Kyle Waldrop pitched out of trouble in the bottom of the inning before rain halted the contest. The previous two innings had been played under increasingly heavy rain.

Chris Cates, Evan Bigley, and Ben Revere had the only hits for Fort Myers (28-15). The two teams meet at Hammond Stadium on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.
