Brevard County Manatees News Release

A four-day layoff due to rainouts proved to be just what the doctor ordered for the Brevard County Manatees, as they tore through Dunedin for a three-game sweep. The Manatees are a perfect 9-0 against the Blue Jays this season.

Friday night, the Manatees blanked the Blue Jays, 3-0. Evan Anundsen pitched five scoreless innings to improve to 5-2 on the season. The strong outing lowered his ERA to 1.76, good for second in the FSL. Eric Farris led the Manatee offense with two hits, scoring one run and driving in another. He also picked up his 20th stolen base of the season, giving him the second highest total in the league.

Dunedin rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game on Saturday, but Steffan Wilson launched a solo home run in the ninth inning to win the game for Brevard County, 4-3. Chris Errecart also homered for the Manatees, his first of the season. Zach Braddock (1-1) picked up the victory in relief, and Rob Wooten earned his 15th save in as many chances. The save gave Wooten the Manatees' all-time record for most saves in a season.

Brevard County completed the sweep on Sunday with a 4-2 victory. Josh Butler pitched five scoreless innings to improve to 6-0. He now leads the FSL in wins. Logan Schafer put on a one-man offensive explosion, going 5 for 5 with three runs scored, one RBI, two doubles, and two steals. The outburst raised Schafer's batting average 27 points to .316.

The Manatees return home on Tuesday to open a four-game series with St. Lucie. The first two games will be at Space Coast Stadium, followed by two games at St. Lucie's Tradition Field.
