Miracle Add Dutchmen to Roster

FORT MYERS, FL (May 26, 2009) - The Fort Myers Miracle announced today that pitcher Loek Van Mil has been added to the active roster.

Van Mil, the tallest player in pro baseball at 7-foot-1, was activated from the Minnesota Twins Extended Spring Training program. The Oss, Netherlands native was rehabbing from an arm injury.

The 24-year-old right-hander appeared in 28 games for the Beloit Snappers in the Midwest League (Single A), posting a 2-2 record with three saves and an ERA of 3.22. He struck out 42 (25 walks) in 44 2/3 innings during the 2008 season.

Van Mil is reunited with Miracle infielder Chris Cates to form the tallest and shortest duo in professional baseball. Cates, standing 5-foot-3, is the shortest player in professional baseball. The two played together last year in Beloit.

The first 250 fans through the gates tonight will receive a special Miracle t-shirt from the Florida Department of Transportation "Click It or Ticket It campaign. Fans will also receive a commemorative autograph card from FDOT so stop by the autograph table next to the souvenir store and get your player signatures. Tonight is also our canned food drive for Grace Community Center - bring a canned food item or non-perishable food item to help stock their pantry for the summer.

School children will enjoy a fun, educational day at the ballpark.

Tickets for all 50 remaining home dates are available for purchase at Hammond Stadium or by phone between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets are also available for the 48th Annual Florida State League All-Star Game at Hammond Stadium on Saturday, June 20.

Fans also may purchase tickets online at www.miraclebaseball.com. The Miracle's online ticket system allows fans to select their exact seat location for each game and conveniently print tickets at home.

Ticket prices for 2009 are as follows: $7 for Box Seats ($8 on Fireworks Night), $5 for General Admission ($6 on Fireworks Night).
