Sioux City Explorers News Release

SIOUX CITY, IA - The Sioux City Explorers announced today that they have acquired 2006 Can-Am League All-Star Outfielder Jason Tuttle in a deal with the New Jersey Jackals, for X's RHP Sean Kramer. With this key acquisition, the X's will enter Spring Training with Tuttle (CF) joining Jorge Moreno (LF), and Pete Pirman (RF) in the outfield.

"I'm really happy with acquisition of Tuttle," comments manager Ed Nottle. "He is a perfect leadoff man and if Pirman and Moreno put up the numbers they have in the past, I will put our outfield up against any in the league. Between these three guys, we fill three of the top five holes in our lineup and have an opportunity to steal 75 bases." Nottle goes onto say about Kramer, "Sean has family and a business opportunity in the Long Island area once he is done with baseball and this gets him closer to that area. He has done a lot for Sioux City the past three years and I thank him for that."

The 27-year-old Tuttle spent the entire 2006 season with the New Jersey Jackals of the Can-Am League. While hitting mostly out of the lead off spot or two hole in the order, Tuttle compiled a .303 batting average with (10) doubles, (2) triples, while also recording (21) stolen bases. Tuttle led the Can-Am league in hits with (105) and was 2nd best in strikeouts per plate appearances by striking out only once in every 15.48 plate appearances. In July, Jason was selected as a starter for the Can-Am League All-Star team as they took on the American Association All-Stars in El Paso, TX. As the regular season came to an end in 2006, the accolades for Tuttle continued to pour in as he was honored by the Can-Am League by being named to the 2006 Post Season All-Star team.

The Winston-Salem, NC native first started his career in 2002 and half of 2003 with Johnstown and Florence of the independent Frontier League. In the latter half of 2003, Tuttle's contract was purchased by the Montreal Expos where he spent a year and a half in Vermont of the NY-Penn League and Savannah of the South Atlantic League. Tuttle began the 2005 season by playing in seven games for West Virginia, a Milwaukee Brewers affiliate of the South Atlantic League, before signing with the Elmira Pioneers of the Can-Am League. With Elmira, Tuttle hit .312 in 81 games with (8) doubles, (51) runs scored and (30) stolen bases.
